editorial - 2013
December 2013
As editor I hope that you all enjoy the anecdotes, stories and photos that Barry Page and I have put together.
For many years I thought that we should have our own site, but lacking the knowledge to do anything about it, I let it slide. A chance conversation with a lady travelling in my London taxi touched on the subject and she told me about Weebly, a company that hosts free websites. I went online later that evening and confess that my eyes glazed over after reading for ten minutes. It was too much to take in. I emailed Barry, "help!" Well, I figured him being a retired man of leisure, he would have more time than me. That and the fact that he also had the best collection of Islington photos of anyone I knew.
Fortunately, Weebly had an excellent Beginner's Guide, including an hour long video running the novice through the process of learning how to put it all together. I lasted twenty-five minutes on my first two viewings, but by the fourth viewing I had begun to understand it and was pleased when I finally worked out how to link one page with another. We were on our way.
The Barnsbury Boys site will only be as good as the stories and photos in it and that means your participation. The current email list that we use will continue as is, but if you would care to contribute an article, bearing in mind that as our site becomes better known it will be seen all over the world, please use the address below for your correspondence relating to the site. You will notice that articles are not restricted to our school. We need to know what happened next!
Finally, if anyone wants their comments taken off the site, please contact me and I will do so immediately.
